According to Autoblog, all 300 limited edition Type R based Mugen RR Civics have been either bought or reserved.

On September 14th at 9:00 AM local time in Japan, reservations opened for the RR. By 9:10 AM all reservation slots were filled, well in advance of the release date expected around January. Capable of doing Tsukuba in 1:06:38, the RR sets each new owner back a hefty 4.7million, but comes with a mighty 177kW naturally aspirated 4 cylinder and weighs just 1240kg in full trim.

N/A Monster

Imagine it. A light 4 door 1240kg car, 4 cylinders, 177KW of power and one angry looking face. Naturally aspirated. Ohh and also did we mention naturally aspirated?

Enter the new UK built, JDM Spec MUGEN RR Civic Type R, coming to Australia with a N/A engine so powerful it has the ADM spec WRX backed into a corner with it’s 2.5L Boxer Turbo engine (169KW) and outpowers the newly released standard Type R with it’s 168KW.

The MUGEN option adds tonnes of aluminium and carbon to keep the weight down, saving around 15kg over the standard Type R (as if the Type R can even be called ‘standard’) as well as signature MUGEN styling cues, a 10mm lower ride height, lightweight black rims, dual exhaust and free flow induction, Potenza RE070RR tyres, adjustable sports dampers, and a close ratio, 6 speed gear box. Phew! That’s before any word on the interior, which we expect will be a level above the newly debuted Civic Type R hatch that just came to Australia.

According to Honda, the Mugen RR will be hand built to order, and only a limited run of 300 being slated for the Australian market, so this is a unique car in many ways.
