It looks like we can expect a new CR-​​X coupe at the Tokyo Motor Show. In fact, Wind­ing Road says we can go the unusual step of say­ing this car will see pro­duc­tion! Fea­tur­ing a svelte, almost Volvo-​​esque front, curves that seem to evolve from the old CR-​​X, neat dual exhausts and 19’s, the pos­si­bly hybrid CR-​​Z would make a wel­come addi­tion to Honda’s line up.

What do we want to see in this?

• 1.8L VTEC, or just the MUGEN RR’s powerplant
• RWD or if we’re really talk­ing fan­tasy, AWD
• 6 speed manual
• 1100kg’s or less

Accord­ing to Auto­blog, all 300 lim­ited edi­tion Type R based Mugen RR Civics have been either bought or reserved.

On Sep­tem­ber 14th at 9:00 AM local time in Japan, reser­va­tions opened for the RR. By 9:10 AM all reser­va­tion slots were filled, well in advance of the release date expected around Jan­u­ary. Capa­ble of doing Tsukuba in 1:06:38, the RR sets each new owner back a hefty �4.7million, but comes with a mighty 177kW nat­u­rally aspi­rated 4 cylin­der and weighs just 1240kg in full trim.

I’m not sure if this is exactly what the 08 Impreza will look like come Octo­ber, in inter­na­tional, JDM, ADM or USDM guise, but it’s nice to be given an idea of the inte­rior fit and fin­ish, which already looks bet­ter than the out­go­ing model. We have our reser­va­tions over the clear rear tail lights, and the loss of the iconic sedan, but hear­ing about a 10% increase in fuel econ­omy is always good.
